First Wave Feminism - The Suffragettes

First wave feminism all started with the suffragettes in the pursuit of votes for women, and after 15 years, women over the age of thirty who owned property were granted the vote. These women fought hard and long to achieve their goal, and turned to some quite radical ways of protesting, such as breaking shop windows, setting buildings on fire, and going on hunger strike when arrested.

Second Wave Feminism 

​The second wave took place in the 1960s and '70s becoming a reproductive rights movement, with goals around legalising abortion, ensuring easier and safe contraception, and fighting issue of racism and classism in birth control programs.
