My watercolour self portrait is not yet finished as it would do with some more layers, however I think so far it is alright, it definitely could be better. I tried to make my work look similar to that of John Singer Sargent, as i do love his detailed faces and the way he uses colour. The painting I'm trying to imitate has a beautiful dark background with these vibrant blue and greens that pop out through the darkness. I don't believe I have captured the same background as the watercolour is pigmented enough to have that same pop.

This is because I'd say that I am a night time kind of person, and if I don't need to get up earlier, will stay up late until the early morning when the moon is still in the sky. I also gave the face dark circles as I am told I have noticeable circles which is probably because I'm tired from being up like the moon all night.
CatPersonally I don't know many cats but do like them, so decided to base this one off my friends cat called Basil. Basil is known for being quite silly which my friend believes is due to the fact he is a pure breed. I find the fact that his eyes seem to point in opposite directions from each other quite funny, so with this sculpture I wanted to exaggerate the size of the eyes, and the fact they look in the opposite direction of each other. Even though Basil has all of his legs my cat seems to have misplaced one of his, which I have decided is just part of his story, as he isn't actually my friends cat. ![]() When photographing my cat I didn't just want a picture like the one above, I wanted to put it in a place that you might actually find a cat. From what I know about other peoples cats, I'm aware that they like to spend their time on window sills watching the outside world. As you can see my cat is able to look out the window and at the ceiling at the same time.
